Kibbe: A Biased Deep Dive

I have been spending the last 6 months straight investing all of my time (on my days off) into two things: Traditional Astrology(a later deep dive) and David Kibbe’s Body Type Theory.

Without Bodyandstyle.com (TikTok) and AlyArt (YouTube), I wouldn’t even know this shit existed.

You can come to your own conclusion too using the knowledge these two creators have provided, the Facebook group Strictly Kibbe (if you can be accepted….. please let me know I am begging), and many many many Reddit forums.

You can either outline yourself to see how my yin or yang you have, but my personal gripe against that is size is relative. What is large-boned to you might not be large bones in the kibbe universe, and I understand the struggle of perceiving your own body when and if you have body dysmorphia.

I have come to the conclusion that I am the type “theatrical romantic.” essentially, it means you have parts of you that are kinda boney but the skin on your stomach is not tight and even if you have abs, your sides are a wave-like curve if there is a curve or indented waist. Selena Gomez is a Kibbe verified theatrical romantic and i feel like my body is similar to hers from the front with few differences that still aline with the classification she is under.

Here is my layman’s terms breakdown of the ten official types.

Dramatic- Tall and narrow bones (Keira Knightley, Anjelica Huston)

Soft Dramatic- tall narrow bones with curve in chest and hips (Sofia Vergara, Adele)

Flamboyant Natural- any height, looks tall, wide shoulders (Michelle Obama, Cindy Crawford)

Soft Natural- Any height, wider ribcage and/or bones are dominant in the torso, and curve in chest and hips (Sydney Sweeney, Katy Perry)

Dramatic Classic- Any height, sharp shoulders, hips, and chest are similar measurements (Jackie Kennedy, Olivia Munn)

Soft Classic- any height, soft shoulders, slightly curvier, hips and chest are similar measurements (Lupita Nyong’o, Kirsten Dunst)

Flamboyant Gamine- short or looks short, under 5’7″ sharp shoulders, long-looking limbs (Twiggy, Zooey Deschanel)

Soft Gamine-Looks short and is short, under 5’5″, sharp shoulders but is not as boney as flamboyant gamine in the torso or legs. (Octavia Spencer, Reese Witherspoon)

Theatrical Romantic- short, narrow sharper shoulders, curvy or fleshy torso, hip bones are not immediately present (Selena Gomez, Jada Pinkett Smith)

Romantics- Short, curvy all over, no matter how athletic or skinny, will always look curvy before anything else (Marilyn Monroe, Beyonce)
